Obituary for Carl Campbell

Carl Gene Campbell, age 68, of Royal Oak for 43 years, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born September 2, 1949 in Detroit to the late Rita and Earl Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was employed in many positions at Farmer Jack Grocery Company and then at Hollywood Grocery Store in Royal Oak, serving over 48 years in total. He was known for his impeccably well groomed hair. His family and friends remember him fondly for his sarcastic humor. Carl enjoyed golfing, bowling, casino visits, walking and fire pitting. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his children and granddaughters.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn, of 41 years, whom he married on October 30, 1976; two daughters, Tracie (Michael) Hampton and Brittany (Jason) Hidell; two granddaughters, Brooke and Samantha Hidell; and two brothers, Paul (Lori) Campbell and Earl (Karen) Campbell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Earl Campbell.

The family will receive friends 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 Twelve Mile Rd. (between Woodward Avenue and Coolidge Road) Berkley. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends Thursday 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service. Cremation will take place privately following the funeral services.

The family suggests memorial contributions to The Detroit Zoological Society Honor and Memorials Program, if you desire.
