Obituary for Donald Robert Dillon

Donald R. Dillon, 92, of Sterling Heights, MI, formally of Berkley, MI, passed away June 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1926 in Batavia, NY to the late Dr. Charles and Grace Dillon. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary P. McAllen and his brother, Charles. He is survived by his six children, Don (Joan) Dillon, Patty (Don) Lott, Aileen Potter, Peggy (Robert) Davey, Mary Ellen (Dan) McCollom and Colleen Dillon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-children, his brother-in-law, Duke Norton, many nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Joan Velzy.

He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1949 with a Master Degree in Business Administration. Donald enjoyed a successful career with the Ford Motor Company working in the Lincoln Mercury Division.

Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served as a rifleman in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII and was a member of the 2nd Infantry Division Army band. He had a love for music and was an accomplished and talented saxophone player.

Visitation: Sunday, June 17 from 4-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 Twelve Mile Rd, Berkley, MI.

In state Monday, June 18 at 9:30 a.m. with funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
