Obituary for Stanley A Smaka

Stanley Adelbert Smaka, age 100 and a longtime resident of Royal Oak, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Woodward Hills Nursing Center in Bloomfield Hills. He was born October 29, 1917 in Wyandotte to Alexander and Mary Smaka.

Stanley worked as a Tool & Die maker for over 45 years. He enjoyed golfing and was a ranger at Rackham Golf Course. He also liked fishing and sketching. He was known to be very generous throughout his life to his family and to numerous organizations.

Surviving him are his children, Stashu (Sandee) Smaka, Frank (Darla) Smaka, Margaret (Joe) Lopez, Sidney (Mary) Smaka, Renee Atkinson, and Nanette (David) Colling; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many loving other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Anthony, Frank, Stephen, William, and Mitchell; and his lifelong friend, Mary Darnell.

The family will receive friends Monday 3:00 PM until the time of the memorial service 4:30 PM at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue). His cremated remains will be privately inurned with his brother in Fenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Northern Plains Reservation Aid and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
