William Sherman McNair,age 70 of Oak Park, Michigan, passed away at home on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Mr. McNair was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 19, 1947. He was the son of Nathan and Elizabeth McNair. Mr. McNair was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving is his wife Claire for 52 years, children; William Sherman McNair II (Robin), Valerie (Thomas) Roberts, and Christopher (Rachel Carney) McNair, grandchildren, Cortney Bos, Mikhaila Roberts, Nathan, Madison, Nicholas and Helena McNair and a brother, Jimmie (Lenora) McNair.
His favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandchildren and his hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and tinkering with classic cars. He was a Legion Rider at the American Legion Post 253 in Royal Oak, Michigan where he served as a Post Commander and Chaplain.
Visitation at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home 2125 Twelve Mile Road in Berkley, (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue) Tuesday, April 3rd from 3-8 pm with a memorial service at 7 pm under the direction of the American Legion Post 253 in Royal Oak, Michigan. In state at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (Fatima), 13500 Oak Park Boulevard( NE corner at Coolidge Highway), Wednesday April 4th from 10:30 am until time of service at 11 am. Private Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Vets Returning Home.
