Obituary for June Eleanor Johnson

June Eleanor Johnson, age 90 of Berkley, passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2018 at Butternut Hill Senior Living in Troy. She was born July 5, 1927 in Manistique to William and Victoria LaFreniere.

June grew up in the upper peninsula of Michigan with four sisters and two brothers. In her youth, she loved listening to the radio at her grandmothers, going to dances, and roller skating. She married the love of her life, LeRoy F. Johnson, on September 29th, 1951 in Manistique, Michigan. Together they moved to Berkley, Michigan to raise their family.

June was a devoted Catholic and a 67 year parish member of Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and took delight in attending countless sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She loved bowling, taking trips up north to visit her family, and hosting an open invite to brunch at her place every Sunday after church. She was an avid card player and a shark at euchre. Her true passion was Tigers' baseball, her favorite spot to watch was what she called "the best seat in the house", her living room chair. Her porch was a welcoming spot for visitors where she always had a cup of coffee waiting for anyone that stopped in and she would demand she 'fix you something to eat'. June's kind spirit, passion for the Tiger's and zest for life will live on through her family. She was adored by everyone she met and will be deeply missed. GO TIGERS.

She is survived by her children, David (Sharon) Johnson, Dennis (Barb) Johnson, Darrell Johnson, Daniel (Suzanne) Johnson, Debra (George) Spratt, and Dean (Amy) Johnson; 12 grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Stacey Johnson, James Johnson, Kelly Cox, Stephanie Trpkovski, Emily Tracy, Trisha Jasmine, Ryan Guertin, Jeremy Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Landon Johnson, and Luke Allgood; 14 great grandchildren, Haley, McKenna, Sammi, Pressley, Grace, Josh, Abigail, Lillian, Maxim, Theo, Nora, Madisyn, Caleb, and Jamison. She was preceded in death by her loving husband LeRoy F. Johnson; her parents; her siblings, Melita Decker, Verna Blowers, Leah Deloria, Aileen Gouin, William LaFreniere, and Chalmer LaFreniere.
